Living as Light in the City

Practically Living Out Our Faith

Transformation is a word we use a lot in this ministry. It is the Lord’s work, not just changing people but literally transforming them into Jesus’ likeness day by day. This is not a ministry of perfection; it is a ministry of honesty and of acceptance and purpose. Prodigal is for everyone and especially for those who are isolated and encumbered by life and circumstances.

Part of this transformation process is learning to serve one another and the community in which we live. We learn together to protect and sacrifice for one another, your family, your community, and your church. Sure, this is hard work; what worthwhile in this life is not? The results of this hard work are relationships of depth and trust, friends on this pilgrim journey bonded together in the struggle for what is right, pure, and true.

Service Projects

Boat Building

Funding for Prodigal Men’s Ministries comes primarily from the selling of boats that are donated to the ministry. We then refurbish the boat and sell it and the buyer can then receive a tax-deductible receipt for the cost of the boat since Prodigal Men’s Ministries is a Federally recognized 501(c) 3 charitable organization. Funds are used for the administration of the ministry and to fund the outreaches and service projects. Prodigal Men’s Ministries has no paid staff, all are volunteers.

Have a Boat to Donate?

We’re always looking for new boats to fund out ministry and our community projects. If you have a boat you’d like to donate, let us know.

“Working on fixing up the boats donated to Prodigal is a great way to bless the ministry and one another. The brotherhood created by working on a project together is amazing! With the funds from selling the boats we are able to help so many others in need and help create opportunities for a better life.”

  • Why We Restore Boats

  • Helps provide a means of skill-building for those in need of employment.
  • Helps to build a sense of community and purpose around shared goals, time together, and finished projects.
  • All proceeds of the sales of these boats help fund Prodigal’s ministries and outreaches.

Service Projects

Community Service

Prodigal is involved in many service projects throughout the year to practically engage our faith and skills for others in need. Projects in the past include involvement with Ray of Hope Camps through Rebound of Whatcom County, help with the Lighthouse Mission in service and housing, helping those in need of a meal and a place to stay for short-term, helping with building projects for single-parent households, food drives for local foodbanks, natural disaster relief, and aid to our troops overseas. In all of this we are a beacon, or lighthouse for the community of Christ’s love and compassion.

Need some help?

Are you a 501(c) 3 and have some projects that need to get done. Are you looking for some men who have a desire to use their talents to serve their communities in which they live?

Project Request

“I have been involved in helping with several community service projects with the men of Prodigal. We have been involved in not only boat restoration, but projects that benefit single mothers of need, disabled in need of basic living arrangements, and many other projects that help the community at large. These service projects help to use the skills that we have gained in our trades and give the group a sense of purpose outside of our immediate needs. It’s been great to be able to bless others in this way.”
